Now is the Time for Diplomacy to End the Iran and Gaza Wars

June 24, 2025 - At this moment in which it is not yet clear if the Israel-Iran ceasefire announced last night by President Trump will hold, New Jewish Narrative renews our call for diplomacy to put in place a sustainable ceasefire, lasting arrangements to address the threat posed by a nuclear-armed Iran, and an end to the war in Gaza.

Now that Israeli and American strikes have damaged Iran’s nuclear program, it is time for those tactical gains to be solidified into a strategic win through diplomatic means. After all, military force cannot eliminate the possibility of Iran developing a nuclear weapon.

Assertive American diplomatic efforts must also be applied to ending the war in Gaza. We must not forget the dire circumstances of the population of Gaza. Nor will we forget the 50 Israeli hostages who have been in captivity for 626 days already. Absent American diplomacy efforts, the situation in Gaza will likely deteriorate further. We have already seen that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has no viable exit strategy to end this war.

“President Trump has shown that he is willing to anger his supporters by using military force,” said Hadar Susskind, President and CEO of New Jewish Narrative. “Now he needs to show us that he is also willing to drive the parties to a deal. That’s true with respect to Iran. It is also true with respect to Gaza, where civilians are still suffering and 50 Israeli hostages remain trapped.”
