Call On Your Senators to Support Sanctions Against Violent West Bank Settlers

Violence against Palestinians in the West Bank is at crisis levels. US inaction has fueled the impunity.

Last month, Awdah Hathaleen, a Palestinian peace activist, was murdered by Yinon Levi, a settler who was previously sanctioned by the US for violent attacks. After President Trump revoked those sanctions in January, Levi and other extremists have been emboldened to resume terrorizing Palestinian communities.

Sadly, the list of Palestinians killed by violent settlers is growing, including two Americans, Saif Musallet and Khamis Ayyad, who were killed in recent weeks too. Settler violence has skyrocketed by 30% since January.

The Sanctions and Accountability for Non-Compliance and Transparent Investigative Oversight for National Security (SANCTIONS) in the West Bank Act, introduced by Senators Welch and Van Hollen, would restore these vital sanctions, making sure the US can hold perpetrators of violence accountable and deter further bloodshed.

Contact your Senators now and urge them to cosponsor this bill to reinstate comprehensive sanctions on violent settlers.

The people of Gaza are starving. Tell Congress to act now.

The haunting images of starving people in Gaza evoke memories of some of the darkest days of our own history as Jews.

But this is not history. It’s happening right now, and we have a moral obligation to act.

Almost 20% of children under the age of five in Gaza City are now suffering from acute malnutrition.

In the first two weeks of July alone, more than 5,000 young children were treated as outpatients for malnutrition, with 18% diagnosed with Severe Acute Malnutrition, the deadliest form of the condition.

Meanwhile, aid seekers are being forced to choose between risking their lives or watching their families starve. Since May 27, over 1,060 people have been killed at aid distribution sites and 7,200 injured while trying to secure food.

Starving civilians is wrong. Using food as a weapon and imposing a total blockade on an entire population amounts to collective punishment and violates the Geneva Conventions.

This is a manmade crisis unfolding in real time. Help push to end this crisis.

Even as the Israeli government has announced that it is taking action to ease the siege, we are also seeing assessments that this might be only a short-term, tactical shift. More pressure is needed to ensure that these levels of hunger will not return.

Five Members of Congress – Representatives Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), Jamie Raskin (MD-08), Bill Keating (MA-09), Valerie Foushee (NC-04), and Becca Balint (VT-AL) – are leading a resolution that calls on the Trump Administration to use all available diplomatic tools to: (1) secure the release of the hostages, (2) end the blockade on humanitarian aid for Palestinian civilians, and (3) pursue a durable end to the conflict in Gaza.

NJN wants to see more effective American diplomacy be brought to bear. Join us. Call on your Representative to cosponsor this resolution now.

NJN is raising funds to support a new health clinic that is being launched in Gaza by Project Rozana, a long-time partner of ours. This is an opportunity to both provide tangible support while also sending the message that the Jewish community rejects the Israeli government’s weaponization of humanitarian aid.

New House bill would hold settler terrorists accountable – act now!

April 29, 2025- Yesterday, Representatives Nadler, Adam Smith, and Himes introduced the West Bank Violence Prevention Act — critical legislation that would codify President Biden’s now-repealed Executive Order that held violent extremists accountable.

President Biden didn’t begin his term with this order in place, but his administration needed a way to hold violent settlers accountable – especially as the Netanyahu government refused to take action.

Since President Trump rescinded the Executive Order in January, settler violence skyrocketed by 30%, and groups like Hilltop Youth resumed wreaking havoc without consequence. This violence is pushing the West Bank to the brink of catastrophe — threatening the safety of Palestinians, Israelis, and broader regional stability.

The West Bank Violence Prevention Act would restore vital tools to freeze assets and sanction individuals who commit acts of violence in the West Bank. New Jewish Narrative strongly supports this bill, and we need your voice to help move it forward.

It’s Time the US Recognized Palestine. Urge Your Representative to Take Action.

The human cost of this war is devastating. Innocent civilians in Gaza are starving, hostages are in critical danger, and families are losing loved ones right now.

It is clear that the decades of conflict and occupation that preceded this war cannot continue. There must be a vision for the political future of Gaza and of the West Bank. To go back to a poorly-defined “occupation” – or to allow the annexation that some Israeli ministers speak of openly – is to start the countdown clock for the next war.

This is a moment for decisive action. Representative Ro Khanna is circulating a letter urging the United States to recognize the State of Palestine. This step helps lay the groundwork for a peaceful, just future, even if a final agreement is not imminent.

Ask your Representative to sign on. US leadership can make the difference.

This should not be controversial. Support for a two-state solution has been a longstanding bipartisan US policy. To realize that vision, the second state—the State of Palestine—must be recognized by the international community. US recognition of Palestine as a sovereign state would demonstrate American leadership, push back against efforts to further entrench the Israeli occupation in the West Bank or expand the occupation into Gaza, and signal a readiness to engage in long-term diplomacy when the time is right.

America’s allies are already moving in this direction. France has announced that it will recognize Palestinian statehood this September, and other close partners such as Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia are also pursuing recognition. The United States can—and should—lead, joining them in upholding the international norm of self-determination and signaling steadfast support for peace.
