November 4, 2026 — New Jewish Narrative congratulates the winners of yesterday's elections. Americans called for change, and they did so decisively: when the new Congress convenes in January, Democrats will hold majorities in both the House and the Senate.
This was the first election in memory in which foreign policy was truly on the ballot. Voters rejected the recklessness with which this administration took the country to war with Iran. On the question of Israel and Palestine, candidates were pressed to break with the status quo and to reject unconditional U.S. support for the policies of the Israeli government. Candidates who backed the current administration’s approach were punished.
Voters also rendered a verdict on what has happened here at home: ICE’s terrorizing of communities; the assault on civil liberties, including the attempts to punish those who dissent; and the continued erosion of reproductive freedom.
New Jewish Narrative looks forward to working with the new Congress on meaningful action from the day its members are seated: pressing to end West Bank annexation and settlement expansion, defending the voting rights of Americans, and reasserting Congress's constitutional authority over decisions of war and peace.
“Last week, Israeli voters rejected the failed policies of their government,” said Hadar Susskind, President and CEO of New Jewish Narrative. “Yesterday, American voters spoke up to similarly reject the status quo. Together, these two elections have opened a window for change that hasn't existed in years. This opportunity must not be squandered."
New Jewish Narrative is a national Jewish organization that champions peace, justice, and human dignity – in Israel, Palestine, and across the United States.
