June 15, 2026—New Jewish Narrative welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran. After nearly four months of conflict, with ripple effects felt across the global economy, the end of hostilities will be cause for relief. We hope this agreement holds, that the formal signing proceeds as planned, and that it marks a true and durable end to the war.
This conflict has laid bare an uncomfortable truth that policymakers would do well to remember: military force has real limits. Despite months of strikes and thousands killed and injured – including US service members – neither Israel nor the United States are more secure.
Israel would do well to apply this lesson to its military action in Lebanon. The IDF cannot destroy Hezbollah. No campaign of airstrikes or ground operations will produce the stability Israel seeks or the safety its people deserve. The best chance Israel has to defang Hezbollah is through engagement with the Lebanese government to strengthen its capacity to disarm Hezbollah.
"We welcome this ceasefire," said Hadar Susskind, President and CEO of New Jewish Narrative.
"For years we have argued that military force alone cannot deliver security for Israel or stability for the region. This war proved that point at enormous cost. It is past time for the leaders of Israel and the United States to apply that lesson."
