NJN Welcomes UN Vote Endorsing Two-State Solution

The United Nations General Assembly voted today, in a dramatic 142 to 10 vote, to endorse the New York Declaration on the implementation of the two-state solution. Both the United States and Israel voted against the resolution.

The New York Declaration, composed under the leadership of France and Saudi Arabia, is a statement of principles for ending the Gaza War, returning Gaza to PA governance, and achieving a two-state solution. Among its notable provisions are an explicit call for Hamas to release hostages, a statement of opposition to settlements, and a commitment by the international community to target sanctions on terrorists.

NJN President and CEO Hadar Susskind said: “Today’s vote is an important statement that the international community is willing to roll up its sleeves to create a better future for Israelis and Palestinians.

“We now have a blueprint for how to end the war and isolate Hamas. It is infuriating that the United States under the Trump administration voted against this plan.”
