Statement on the Terror Attack Against Jews in Australia
December 14, 2025 — All of us are still processing the news coming from Australia. Our hearts are with the victims, their families, and the Sydney Jewish community as they confront yet another act of hatred and violence simply for being Jewish.
This attack is part of a disturbing global surge in antisemitism that has taken many forms — harassment, vandalism, threats, and increasingly, deadly violence. No Jewish person, anywhere in the world, should have to live in fear.
"It is time for political leaders around the world to treat antisemitism with the urgency and seriousness it demands — not as a political football, but as a real and present threat," said Hadar Susskind, President and CEO of New Jewish Narrative.
"That means unequivocal condemnation, robust protection for targeted communities, and sustained efforts to address antisemitism wherever it appears. Our safety is bound up with the safety of others. That is why the fight against antisemitism must go hand in hand with a broader commitment to opposing all forms of racism, xenophobia, and political violence.
"In moments like this, we stand in solidarity with Jews in Australia and with all those working to build societies rooted in dignity, equality, and justice."
